How We Paint the Hogwarts Great Hall Door, Step by Step

An entrance with character

Some places are not just visited, they are felt. The door to the Hogwarts Great Hall is one of them: the great Gothic arch, the columns and the reliefs tell you something important is happening on the other side.

We wanted to recreate it in every detail. The reel shows how it is born, from a grey piece to a door that looks like it came straight out of the castle.

We start with grey

The video opens with the whole piece in grey, the base we work on. You can already see the carved panels of the door, the columns of the arch and the flagstones of the floor, still without colour.

That uniform base lets every relief show clearly and is the starting point for all the layers of paint.

The airbrush: volume, light and shadow

Then the airbrush comes in. First the wood of the door is darkened with browns and, little by little, the stone picks up greenish and cream tones, lighter in some areas and darker in others.

Those soft transitions are what give volume to the arches and columns, and make the stone look old instead of a flat surface.

The details, by brush

With the paint palette to one side, the brushwork begins: the small touches the airbrush cannot reach. This is where details like the golden door handles come in, visible at the end of the video.

They are the details that make the piece look real up close.

The result: aged stone and dark wood

The end of the video shows it turning: cream-toned stone with an aged look, dark wood with carved panels and a floor of grey flagstones.

Great Hall Door of the Magical Castle measures 20 cm high, 16 cm wide and 9.2 cm deep. It is made of high-precision, ultra-detailed premium PLA and hand-painted. Every piece is printed, assembled and painted individually, so no two are exactly alike.
